Maggie Northrop

2017-2019 Cohort

Maggie received her Master of Public Health and Public Affairs degrees and Bachelor's degrees in Political Science, International Studies and Global Health from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. As part of her Master's capstone project, she worked with Wisconsin AHEC to evaluate and advance the Community Health Worker model in the state. Professional and academic interests include policy, socioeconomic determinants and political economy of health, health inequities, immigrant health. Maggie has prior experience working with orphaned Roma children in Bulgaria and volunteering in various settings, from the foothills of the Himalayas to the United Nations. Most recently, Maggie worked at the state Bureau of Communicable Diseases where she collaborated with the Tuberculosis and Refugee Health teams to improve processes and build capacity for refugee and immigrant care, connecting underserved populations across Wisconsin to critical health services. Maggie will complete her fellowship at the Office of Policy and Practice Alignment, Wisconsin Division of Public Health. Preceptor: Mimi Johnson
